Awhile back I wrote an article about the fascinating transformation of Dennis Haysbert. Somehow, he went from Pedro Cerano to Mr. President and we all bought into it.

I know that right before we (yes, we) went live, I wrote an article about the meta nature of Newsvine at the time, noting the omnipresence of Newsvine-centric material.

Easily one of my favorite elements in fantasy sports is the unbelievable amount of trash that gets talked in the forums.

I love Newsvine. You love Newsvine. Let me start a rumor right here and now so it will hopefully come true: the Newsvine guys want to hire me.

Three nights ago (February 23rd, to be exact) I attended the first ever San Francisco Tech Session at the CNET headquarters. The techsessions were invented as a response to large technology conferences. They are free, quick, and small.

Have any of you heard of Jon Armstrong? No? That's ok, he's not famous outside of a small cirlcle of websites. In fact, he is not even the person with the most popular blog in his family.

I haven't had a chance to watch Johnny Weir skate but I know that he is gay. He is flamboyantly gay. He might be the gayest man alive, I mean he owns not one, but TWO Chihuahuas (this piece of knowledge from a recent ESPN article").

As users of early technology, we are increasingly becoming assets to be bought by the highest bidder. Recently, companies like Yahoo! and Google seem to have an insatiable appetite for buying young startups and it has impacted many of the sites I frequent.

Growing up, I used to play a lot of basketball at the local park (I'm sure this is not a shocking revelation). One of the games we used to play was called "Alley Oop," though I've heard it called "Tips" or "21" before.

If you would allow me the honor, I would like to add another acronym to our already acronym-laden technical subculture: JAAA. To pronounce this acronym in every-day speech, adopt the accent of a lazy, male, entitled 23-year old German and drawl it out, like, "jaaaaaaaaaa."

Good ole 37 signals posted today on the danger of product roadmaps. I like these guys, they're doing good things all the time. This post, however, strikes me as a little bit off.

Admit it, you want your little picture up on the front page. When it's there, you take a screenshot as proof. You yearn for it. You don't check the Vine for news, you check the vine for vanity. "Va va voom," you think when you see your mug displayed proudly up front.

So yesterday I'm browsing around in here and I notice that we've been given some rotating mastheads. Groovy. So like a kid in a candy store I'm all over the refresh button.

While I can understand and accept that people who operate within a defined social circle tend to latch on to certain comfortable and familiar phrases, that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Has anyone else been to ESPN.com in the last day or so? If so, were you presented with a full screen advertisement before you were allowed to view the main page? This is a horrifying development if a portal of this size can actually make a successful venture out of this sort of

I'll admit it, when I saw Leo McGarry for the first time in The West Wing, I couldn't help shake the image of FBI Commander Womack from The Rock. Some famous Womack quotes:

OK, that's probably not an entirely accurate statement. I'm sure that Mike isn't the only one working on the visual side of things around here, I just wanted to point out that bits of his design mojo are cropping up here and there. My creative ability is not what I would call "astounding," "awe-inspiring," or even "relatively crowd pleasing" so I have taken to simply observing.

This particular article is not going to argue for Coltish perfection along the traditional lines. I do not care about the Colts' place in history, about which feat elevates them to immortality: a Superbowl victory or a perfect record. I am more concerned with the hear-and-now, with the true value of modern football. I am concerned about my fantasy team.

I fly Southwest Airlines. A lot. The people who staff the terminal in San Jose know me by name and greet me with a warm smile of recognition each time I pass through the gates. Believe me, this is not something I ever wished for or worked towards. However, it has caused me to get really, really good at making the journey hassle-free and almost enjoyable.

Reading through the 60+ comments on the initial newsvine blog post, it became abundantly clear that the main concerns over this site are: spamming, abuse, and the integrity/validity of the voting system. These concerns are identical to the ones raised after Mike's unveiling on his personal site and I'm sure come as no surprise to the newsvine team.

I've been flying Northwest Airlines quite a bit recently and they have the interesting habit of loading and unloading the plane from the middle. The airplane they use has two main entries into the cabin and for some reason they regard the forward-most door with a certain level of disdain.

Madden, sometimes referred to as 'the Other Sean', is an old friend to the Vine. Having joined very early-on (but not early enough to nab sean.newsvine.com), Madden has been a fun guy to have around the site, and more recently, a fun guy to go and grab a few drinks with during his visit to Seattle. I like to think (and hope) that most of our users are as personable in the offline world.
Yo Sean, I've been keeping in touch with your boy Tom, he says what's up.
